Blog Title: Welcome Home, Chanhassen: A Mosaic of Belonging By Anne Krocak, Public Artist
What makes a place feel like home? Is it the way someone smiles at you in the library? The rhythm of a familiar walking path? The joy of being invited to something new—and finding out you belong?
This fall, we are excited to announce a powerful collaboration between Chanhassen’s Communities of Belonging, Chanhassen Library, and Public Artist Anne Krocak, made possible through generous funding from a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. Together, we invite you to take part in an inclusive, joyful community art experience that asks:
How do we welcome new people into our community? What does it mean to truly feel like you belong? And how can we each be placemakers—helping shape Chanhassen into an open, vibrant home for all?
✨ “Welcome Home” – You Belong Here
Whether you've lived in Chanhassen for decades or just arrived last week, you are part of the story. Our new project, “The Art of Belonging: A Community Mosaic of Project,” will explore these questions through conversation and collaborative artmaking. In this welcoming space, we’ll share our stories, values, and hopes while co-creating a beautiful mosaic that represents what it means to belong in Chanhassen.
This is not just an art class—it’s a community-building experience. We will reflect on what makes Chanhassen special, how each of us contributes to its identity, and what it means to say, “I see you. You belong. Welcome home.”
🖌 What to Expect
Free and Fun for ages 16+: This workshop is open to everyone, but spots are limited—so register early!
Learn the Mosaic Art Form: No experience needed! You'll learn how to make a bas relief tile from clay, shape stained glass and to tell a visual story.
Create Together: We'll work side-by-side to create a collaborative mosaic that reflects the diverse experiences of Chanhassen residents.
Conversations that Matter: Through guided questions and warm discussion, we’ll explore ideas of welcome, identity, and community.
A Lasting Legacy: The finished mosaic will be installed in a public space to serve as a visible and lasting symbol of belonging in our town.
💬 Why It Matters

We hope you’ll join us in this celebration of place, identity, and shared humanity. Let’s keep asking: How can we make room at the table for everyone? Let’s build something beautiful—together.
